What are Lightroom Presets?

Lightroom is a photo editing software from Adobe.

A Lightroom preset is a configuration of settings, designed to achieve a certain look or style of your photo. You install the presets into your lightroom (desktop app or lightroom mobile phone app iOS/Android) and then you can apply the presets on your photos.

Lets call it a Filter for your photos. It speeds up your workflow dramatically and you can achieve the colors and look you want without needing to edit each photo individually.

We know the struggle to find the right editing style sometimes, especially when you are a beginner.

Presets are super easy to use and a good base to start your photo editing process until you find your own style someday! Lets try it out!

For what type of photography do the presets work?

The presets are working with any kind of photography style.

Wether you prefer to shoot portraits, shooting amazing landscapes, streetphotography or travel photos from exotic places, the presets are designed to fit on your photos perfectly.

 

 

What if a preset is not looking they i want it to look?

Presets are no magical spell for your photos - they provide you a base for you work with.

Every photo is unique, depending on the light situation you took it, the colors, the subject etc.

Even if you edit a JPG or a RAW File matters - But whats good when you use presets is: They fully customizable!

When a presets does not look right on a specific photo, try to adjust the basic settings like, brightness, highlights/shadows, contrast, white balance etc. till you created the look you want to achieve.

Do i need a subscription plan for Adobe Lightroom?

Yes & No.

First you should know the following about Adobe Lightroom:

Adobe Lightroom for your desktop computer or laptop does have a yearly subscription fee but it is well worth it if you want to bring out the best in your photos.

However, the Lightroom Mobile app is completely free and there are lots of presets that work on the Adobe Lightroom App. That means you can use lightroom preset packs you have purchased without having to pay the yearly subscription fee for the Adobe Lightroom desktop version.
